Around this time last year Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that The Incredibles 2 was finally in the works and that the original writer-director Brad Bird would return to develop it, and we were like:
Now that his new film Tomorrowland is finished (and due for release on May 22), Bird confirmed with NPR that he was currently in the script writing process for the sequel. Noting that the main idea for the sequel is “percolating,” he explained, “I’m just starting to write it, so we’ll see what happens.”
“Just starting to write it”?! Just NOW starting to write it?
I was seriously hoping the sequel was much further along in the process than, "just starting to write it." Like, just finished writing it, coming to theaters near you this Christmas, further along.
Okay, I realize you can’t rush the creative process, or perfection, for that matter. Just know that the longer it takes, the greater my expectations will be. I'm watching you, Brad Bird. And Pixar.
